Call of Duty has unveiled an exciting new chapter in its Black Ops series with the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, set in the tumultuous year of 1991. This latest instalment immerses players in a world of Cold War deception and covert operations, using a Safehouse as the main base between missions. With a nod to the past, the Safehouse once served as a secret KGB Black Site and now forms the central hub of the game’s storyline.
To mark the game’s release, Call of Duty is offering a £100,000 prize in a competition where one lucky player could secure their own Safehouse. The prize mirrors the average house price in 1991 (£57,959), while the remaining sum covers legal fees, furnishings, and gaming gear for the winner. This offer aims to appeal particularly to younger players, with 46% of 18-24-year-olds reportedly concerned that they will never afford their own home.
The Safehouse Challenge
A major highlight of the launch is the ‘Safehouse Challenge’, a competition hosted by Roman Kemp, featuring three influencers: Angry Ginge, Ash Holme, and Danny Aarons. These ‘Rogue Agents’ will face a series of intense, Black Ops-style tests and forfeits, with their fans standing to win big.
The challenges, which test deception, agility, and quick thinking, will take place inside a meticulously recreated Safehouse designed to reflect the iconic settings of Black Ops 6. The agents will compete to win the grand prize of £100,000 on behalf of their fans, all while navigating challenges themed around secrecy and distrust—themes that are core to the Black Ops franchise.
Roman Kemp, the face of the competition, said, “This year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 takes gamers back to the ’90s, a time of incredible music, bold fashion, and ‘Cool Britannia’. But it was also a period of political turmoil and deception, a perfect backdrop for Black Ops. Our Rogue Agents will have to channel the spirit of the ’90s and use all their cunning to win the prize for their supporters.”
The Ultimate Prize
The competition doesn’t just stop at winning a house. The prize will also cover the cost of new furniture, legal fees, and the latest gaming gear, ensuring the lucky winner’s home is well-equipped, particularly for the creation of a gaming room.
Fans of the game are invited to support their favourite agent by heading to the promotional website and selecting the influencer they believe will win the challenge. Those who back the victorious agent will then be entered into a draw, with the grand prize winner being announced on 1 November 2024.
