In a new initiative aimed at enhancing the gaming experience, global video game commerce company Xsolla has partnered with Mastercard and Alior Bank to introduce a seamless payment solution for gamers in Poland. Mastercard cardholders with Alior Bank can now redeem their loyalty points for in-game purchases using the Xsolla Pay with Points system, offering a more convenient way to buy virtual items, games, and in-game currency.
The collaboration is designed to simplify the process of making in-game purchases. Using Mastercard’s digital redemption capabilities, players will be able to use their accumulated loyalty points—earned through everyday spending—directly within Xsolla’s Pay Station, a customised checkout system integrated into the gaming platform. This streamlined process allows gamers to make purchases without leaving the platform, reducing friction and providing a more secure, efficient experience.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the Pay with Points solution in Poland, marking a significant step in making in-game payments more accessible and user-friendly,” said Anton Zelenin, Chief Product Officer at Xsolla. “By allowing players to use loyalty points for in-game purchases, we’re enhancing the gaming experience and making it easier for consumers to get more out of their everyday transactions.”
The gaming industry continues to grow rapidly, with millions of new players each year. However, in-game payments remain a pain point for many gamers, with over 40% of consumers reporting difficulty when trying to purchase in-game currency, and more than 30% finding the process too complicated. Xsolla Pay with Points addresses these issues by integrating the payment solution directly into the gaming platform, making it possible to redeem points with fewer clicks.
“Mastercard’s collaboration with Xsolla and Alior Bank is a great example of how financial services and gaming can come together to improve the consumer experience,” said Scott Abrahams, Executive Vice President of Global Partnerships at Mastercard. “By enabling players to use loyalty points for in-game purchases, we’re providing a simple and secure way to pay while enhancing the overall gaming experience.”
Berkley Egenes, Chief Marketing & Growth Officer at Xsolla, explained that this new payment method not only simplifies the process but also adds value for consumers. “This partnership is about creating a seamless experience that rewards players for their everyday spending, while also offering a safe, secure, and easy way to engage with their favourite games. We want to make gaming more accessible for everyone, and this is an important step in that direction,” he said.
The launch of Pay with Points in Poland is just the beginning, with plans for further global rollouts. The new system is expected to benefit both players and game developers, offering an innovative way to monetise gaming experiences while rewarding consumers for their loyalty.
Mateusz Tomczak, Product Development Manager at Alior Bank, added: “Games are an essential part of many people’s lives, and we are excited to support our customers by giving them a new way to use their loyalty points. By integrating this solution into everyday activities, we’re making it easier for players to enhance their gaming experiences while enjoying the benefits of their loyalty programmes.” To learn about Pay with Points with Xsolla, visit xsolla.pro/pwp1.
