Chipotle Mexican Grill UK has launched its first-ever international Strava segment challenge, in collaboration with fitness tracking app Strava, to encourage healthy habits in 2025. The initiative aims to bring together Chipotle’s running community in 25 cities across Europe and North America, including London. Participants can compete for the chance to win free Lifestyle Bowls for a year, plus free Chipotle for their city, by completing a Strava segment challenge at select locations, including Chipotle’s London restaurant.
The challenge, which runs from now until 31 January 2025, encourages people to complete the “Chipotle Segment” in London, located at 101-103 Baker Street, to win Local Legend Status (LCL) – an award for completing the segment the most times. The Local Legend in London will be rewarded with free Lifestyle Bowls for a year, offering a healthy and delicious post-workout meal.
Anat Davidzon, Managing Director, International for Chipotle, commented on the popularity of Chipotle’s offerings with athletes: “Our nourishing, real food is quickly becoming a go-to training meal for athletes across all levels in London. After a successful launch in the U.S., we’re excited to bring the competition to the UK following the strong demand from our fans here.”
As part of the initiative, Chipotle and Strava have created 25 “Chipotle segments” – portions of roads and trails where athletes can compete to post the fastest times. Each segment finishes at a Chipotle restaurant, allowing competitors to reward themselves with a healthy meal. Along with the individual competition, cities will compete to log the highest collective mileage. The city with the highest total will win a Buy-One-Get-One-Free (BOGOF) offer for a future Chipotle instore order, benefiting the whole community.
The launch of the Strava challenge is part of Chipotle’s broader commitment to promoting health and wellness. In addition to the competition, Chipotle is unveiling its new 2025 Lifestyle Bowls, designed to cater to various dietary preferences such as keto, paleo, vegan, and gluten-free. These bowls feature chef-curated combinations of real ingredients and are available exclusively through the Chipotle UK app and website.
One of the standout features of the new menu is the addition of a Supergreens salad mix, which combines romaine, baby kale, and baby spinach. This will replace the existing romaine-only salad base. Nevielle Panthaky, Vice President of Culinary at Chipotle, explained: “Lifestyle Bowls allow us to preconfigure our real ingredients, including the new Supergreens salad blend, to help our guests achieve health and wellness goals all year long.”
The 2025 Lifestyle Bowl lineup includes options such as the Balanced Macros Bowl, Wholesome Bowl (Whole30® compatible), High Protein Bowl, and Plant-Powered Bowl, among others. These are all available as digital-exclusive items through the Chipotle UK app or website, offering convenient one-tap ordering.
The Chipotle x Strava City Challenge and the introduction of Lifestyle Bowls demonstrate the company’s ongoing efforts to encourage healthy living and bring innovative dining experiences to its customers in the UK. The full details and competition rules are available on the Chipotle UK website.
