Wood panel distributor Lawcris Panel Products Ltd has secured a new 10-year lease at the Towngate Link Development in Leeds. The move marks a significant step in the company’s growth, as it takes up residence in a 65,000 sq ft state-of-the-art warehouse within the Cross Green Industrial Estate.
The facility, owned by Towngate PLC, a leading commercial and industrial property specialist in the north, is designed to support Lawcris’ expanding operations. The lease aligns with Lawcris’ strategic objectives, providing increased storage and operational efficiency for the company’s extensive product portfolio, which includes wood-based panels, laminates, and decorative surfaces.
A Strategic Location for Growth
Located just east of Leeds city centre, the new warehouse boasts excellent transport links, with easy access to major roads, including the A63, the A1/M1 Link Road, and nearby motorway junctions. The detached facility offers modern amenities, including photovoltaic solar panels, EV charging stations, LED lighting with PIR sensors, and 13.2-metre eaves heights.
The space also includes two storeys of offices, a secure yard, and advanced loading facilities. Stuart Hall, Commercial Manager at Lawcris, described the warehouse as “perfectly suited” to the company’s needs.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Towngate on this next phase of our growth,” Hall said. “The additional space allows us to introduce exciting new product ranges and create a brand-new showroom and networking area, strengthening our competitive edge in the industry.”
Lawcris’ Expanding Legacy
Founded in 1982, Lawcris is one of the UK’s leading distributors of wood-based panels, serving diverse sectors such as construction, manufacturing, and interior design. The firm boasts partnerships with major manufacturers, including Egger and Kronospan, and operates a fleet of 45 vehicles. With over 240 employees and five sites covering more than 250,000 sq ft, Lawcris continues to meet the growing demand for its products.
The new warehouse is located near Lawcris’ flagship headquarters at Knowsthorpe Gate, ensuring operational continuity.
A Milestone for Towngate Link
Tom Lamb, Property Director at Towngate PLC, highlighted the appeal of the Towngate Link Development. “The facility was built just five years ago with sustainability and longevity in mind,” Lamb explained. “It’s fantastic to see Lawcris expand into this modern, strategically located site. We look forward to supporting their growth.”
Iain McPhail, a partner at Knight Frank’s Leeds industrial and logistics team, who brokered the lease, noted the significance of the agreement. “This highly anticipated letting reflects both Lawcris’ ongoing success and the growth of Towngate’s portfolio. It provides Lawcris with a high-quality facility to support its nationwide expansion.”
Looking Ahead
As Lawcris gears up for its next phase, the company’s investment in modern facilities underscores its commitment to delivering top-quality service across sectors. The move not only enhances its operational capacity but also positions the company to explore new opportunities in a competitive market.
