Renowned Tao Healer Dr. Zhi Gang Sha to Host First UK Workshop on Tao Calligraphy Healing
Dr. and Master Zhi Gang Sha, a globally recognised spiritual healer and Tao Grandmaster, is set to lead his first in-person event in the UK on 2nd November. Known for his unique approach that fuses ancient Taoist wisdom with contemporary medical insights, Dr. Sha will host a full-day workshop in central London to demonstrate his Tao Calligraphy healing method. This session will provide participants with the opportunity to explore techniques designed to enhance mental, physical, and emotional well-being.
A specialist in both traditional Chinese and Western medicine, Dr. Sha is an 11-time New York Times bestselling author, with decades of experience in developing healing methods that address the interdependence of body, mind, and spirit. His approach centres on the concept of “qi”—life energy—believing that imbalances in qi can cause health issues. Through his pioneering Tao Calligraphy, Dr. Sha’s method aims to balance this energy at a soul level, helping participants achieve a sense of holistic wellness.
Tao Calligraphy, the focal point of this workshop, combines traditional Chinese calligraphy techniques with mindful breathing exercises and chanting. The process involves tracing calligraphic characters while focusing on a mantra, known as the six-word meditation. Dr. Sha will also teach Light Wall breathing techniques during the workshop, which are designed to release physical and emotional blockages, promoting overall wellness.
The session’s agenda offers more than an introduction to calligraphy. Dr. Sha will guide attendees through exercises in which they connect with their own energy systems, aiming to help them foster inner peace and self-awareness. “This is a rare chance to witness a practice that integrates Taoist art with holistic health,” said Dr. Sha, whose methods have been practised by followers worldwide.
Recent studies have highlighted the potential benefits of Tao Calligraphy. In April 2024, research on the practice was presented at the Science of Consciousness Conference held at the University of Arizona. The study focused on participants living with chronic conditions such as cancer and chronic pain. Findings indicated marked improvements in both physical and emotional states, with participants reporting continued positive effects up to two years later. Breast cancer patients in particular noted enhancements in emotional well-being within just one month of practising Tao Calligraphy. Researchers suggested that the art’s combination of mindful movement and meditation could effectively complement standard medical treatments.
Dr. Sha’s upcoming workshop aims to equip participants with tools they can use long after the event. By practising Tao Calligraphy, individuals will be encouraged to continue their personal journey to health by removing “blockages” in their qi. Attendees will also learn exercises designed to boost energy levels and achieve a lasting sense of calm and self-awareness.
