Erickson Coaching International, a leading provider in global coaching education, has been recognised as the Distinguished Coach Education Provider of 2024 by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) at the ICF Impact Awards. This prestigious honour, awarded in an in-person ceremony in Athens, Greece on 28 October, arrives just ahead of Erickson’s 45th anniversary, celebrating nearly half a century of contributions to the coaching profession.
The ICF, known as the global credentialing body for coaches, grants this award to recognise excellence in coach education, highlighting Erickson’s dedication to equipping credentialed coaches across the world. With training offered in 14 languages and over 43 locations, both online and in-person, Erickson has established itself as one of the most accessible and widespread coach training providers globally.
Stephanie Norris, ICF Awards Director, explained why Erickson Coaching International emerged as the leading choice for the honour. “Our Coaching Impact Awards receive nominations from all around the world,” Norris said. “Erickson Coaching International has been a pillar of global coaching education for over four decades. Their commitment to growing the impact of coaching around the world positioned them well as the top contender for our Distinguished Coach Education Provider award.”
To mark the dual celebration of this award and its approaching 45th anniversary, Erickson Coaching International has announced it will offer 45 scholarships, designed to extend access to coaching education for individuals and organisations. The initiative aims to further empower those seeking to advance their skills in coaching and leadership, continuing Erickson’s vision of fostering a community of globally-minded, credentialed coaches.
Speaking on the award, Louise Hendey, CEO of Erickson Coaching International, shared her pride in Erickson’s global community. “This is a proud moment for Erickson-trained coaches worldwide as well as the facilitators and partners around the world who deliver our coach training,” Hendey said. “We believe coaching represents the future of leadership, and we are thrilled to lead this global transformation, one solution-focused conversation at a time.”
Erickson Coaching International was founded by Dr Marilyn Atkinson, a pioneer in solution-focused coaching, who has been influential in promoting coaching as a tool for empowerment and productivity worldwide. Dr Atkinson, who at 81 continues to contribute to Erickson’s mission, expressed her appreciation for the progress made over the decades. “Erickson stands for human potential. At 81, it’s incredible to see my vision for a solution-focused world being realised by coaches who are driving positive impact worldwide,” Dr Atkinson said. “Coaching is not just a tool for productivity but a vehicle for empowerment. At Erickson, we live this belief every day through coaching partnerships with NPOs like Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Foundation, Red Cross Canada, and more.”
Erickson’s commitment to driving positive impact through coaching is well-reflected in its partnerships with nonprofit organisations. The company collaborates on coaching initiatives with partners around the world, including prominent names like the Red Cross and Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Foundation.
As Erickson prepares to celebrate its milestone anniversary, this recognition by the ICF underscores its role in shaping the future of the coaching profession, while its upcoming scholarship programme aims to make coaching education accessible to an even wider audience.
